I rarely make cards, and I call myself a reluctant stamper. I usually buy stamps only when I need them for a workshop or specific project. However, lately I find myself wanting to buy cute stamps even without a plan for them. Take this kitty and the sentiment from the new Friendly Pets stamp set in the new Seasonal Expressions 2 idea book debuting April 1.
How cute is this?! I dare you to try to read the sentiment without saying it in the voice of Joey from “Friends.”
From the moment I saw the sentiment, I knew I had to own it.
And it is perfect for this week’s challenge at Heart2Heart Challenges — “How cute!”
I had fun making this card — I distressed, I embossed, I colored with my ShinHan Touch Twin markers, and I used a brand-new paper pack that’s coming April 1 — Blossom! You’ll be able to see the new Idea Book on my website starting April 1.
The card base is Canary cardstock. I embossed Sunset cardstock — one of the colors in the new Blossom paper pack — with the Chevron embossing folder and my Cuttlebug. I cut the banners from a paper and a zip strip in the paper pack. I cut the blue panel from another piece of Blossom patterned paper and used the Edge Distresser to rough up the edges. I stamped the kitty and sentiment in Archival Black on White Daisy cardstock and heat-set it with the craft heater. I cut the speech bubble using the CTMH exclusive Artiste Cricut cartridge and inked the edges with the Leaf Green marker. A piece of thin 3-D foam tape raises the speech bubble off the card. I colored the kitty with the Golden Yellow marker and its stripes and snout with the Marigold marker, going over them again to make them darker. I used Tender Pink for the ears and nose, and Cherry Pink to color the heart.
Stamping, coloring, card-making … all of these things are outside my crafting comfort zone, but I had a great time. Now you do it! Remember, if you need any help or supplies — like Phoebe, Joey, Rachel, Ross, Monica and Chandler — “I’ll be there for you!”
Now I challenge YOU — go make something that’ll make me say, “How cute!”
Then head over to Heart 2 Heart to link up! You have all month to enter any of March’s challenges. See you there!
