All the reports of shark attacks have nipped in the bud our plans to vacation at an East Coast beach. Fortunately, we can still put our toes and seats in the sand at the beaches on our area lakes. Three years ago, we held Arabella’s 9th birthday party — which had a swimming theme — at Broadford Lake Park in Oakland, MD. It was a little chilly that late August day (as it can be in the mountains) but the children still swam. And then some of them buried themselves in the sand — Arabella for the first time. When I learned this week’s theme for the challenge at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is “Life Is A Beach” I knew these photos would fit perfectly!
Here’s the recipe for my page:
Paper: Close To My Heart’s Seaside paper pack coordinated well with the colors of swimsuits and sand toys in the photos.
Cardstock: Colonial White, Hollyhock, Glacier, Black, Pear, Desert Sand
Embellishments: I really wanted to find a pail and spade diecut to use as a journaling spot. When I couldn’t, I used strips of washi tape from the Boardwalk Washi Tape pack and staggered them. I wrote the journaling as the last step I did on the page and let it dry overnight for fear I would smudge it. The Coral Reef Sequins coordinated well.
Inks: Desert Sand and Cocoa
Tools: Adhesives — 3-D Thin and Regular Foam Tape plus tape runner and fine point glue pen; Distressing tool: Sponge Dauber; Stamping tools: blocks, stamp scrubber; Standard equipment: a ruler and journaling pen
Stamp set: July Stamp of the Month Life is Wonderful, which you can get FREE this month when you purchase $25 in current, retail priced stamps. Or or any one of the Hostess Rewards stamp sets featured in Annual Inspirations 2014–2015 or Seasonal Expressions 2 for only $5! Here’s a page Close To My Heart made with the July Stamp of the Month.
I want to see your beach photos! Head over to Heart 2 Heart and link up your projects. You might win some recognition for your artwork. Just keep in mind your entry has to have at least SOME Close To My Heart product in it. There’s a new challenge every Monday but all projects are due at the end of the month.
